After 15 years, we're down to the last week. July 12, 2013 will be the last show for John & Michele in the Morning. There's nothing scandalous to report...sorry!
John will continue his reign as Springfield's morning show king, but he'll just be doing it with someone new.
Michele is moving on to a new phase of her career in the radio business. She'll still be in Springfield and still with Neuhoff Media, however instead of being on the air she's going to be focusing on all things digital. It's been a great 15 years, and John & Michele plan to spend this last week reminiscing with guests and playing some of the best moments of the past.
Michele would LOVE to hear from you this week. Write on the John & Michele Facebook page, email her, or tweet.
"American Idol" Names Season 11 Winner
It was a win for Phillip Phillips on the season finale of "American Idol" Wednesday night. Phillips beat 16-year-old Jessica Sanchez. The finale featured several performances and a marriage proposal from one former "Idol" to another. Season 7 contestant Ace Young proposed to season 3 contestant Diana DeGarmo. She said yes.
Phillips will head out on a press tour in New York and then he heads home to Georgia for kidney surgery. In March Phillips was rushed to the hospital with abdominal pains and a doctor recommended surgery. Phillips put the surgery off so he could compete on "Idol." E! News is reporting Phillips may miss one or two dates at the start of the "American Idol" tour this summer.
"Duets" To Fill the Void "Idol" Leaves Staring Tonight
Don't worry that "American Idol" is over. There's another singing competition to take its place starting tonight on ABC. "Duets" features Kelly Clarkson, John Legend, Jennifer Nettles, and Robin Thicke teaming with the contestants. See it tonight at 7pm.
Former Nanny Sues Sharon Stone
Doesn't sound like Sharon Stone is very fun to work for. Former nanny for Stone, Erlinda T. Elemen, has filed suit against the actress claiming Stone illegally fired her for getting overtime pay and made disparaging remarks about her ethnicity (Filipino) and religion. Among the complaints in the lawsuit...
- Elemen says Stone would tell her not to speak to her children because she didn't want them to "talk like you."
- Elemen says Stone made numerous comments "which equated being Filipino with being stupid."
- Elemen says she was once forbidden to read the bible in her room by Stone.
- Elemen says she was fired for refusing to return overtime pay she earned legally and that Stone said she was "stealing" the wages.
Stone has not responded to the lawsuit.
