John & Michele in the Morning

After 15 years, we're down to the last week.  July 12, 2013 will be the last show for John & Michele in the Morning.  There's nothing scandalous to report...sorry! 
John will continue his reign as Springfield's morning show king, but he'll just be doing it with someone new.
Michele is moving on to a new phase of her career in the radio business.  She'll still be in Springfield and still with Neuhoff Media, however instead of being on the air she's going to be focusing on all things digital.  It's been a great 15 years, and John & Michele plan to spend this last week reminiscing with guests and playing some of the best moments of the past.

Weekend Marquee/E Buzz for May 18, 2012

Brad Paisley/Band Perry/Scotty McCreery: Friday at Verizon Wireless Amphitheater in St. Louis.  Lawn seats are sold out for this show, however there are some reserved seats remaining.  Get them at www.ticketmaster.com or 800-745-3000.

Springfield Jaycees International Beerfest: Saturday 5pm - 10pm at the Illinois Building on the Illinois State Fairgrounds.  $10 admission at the door, and sample tickets are $1 each.  The first 750 people will receive a special edition tasting glass.  There will be over 100 beers.

Old Capitol Art Fair: Saturday 10am - 5pm and Sunday 10am - 4pm downtown Springfield on the Old State Capitol Plaza. 

Art of Illinois Wine Festival: Saturday 11am - 9pm and Sunday Noon - 5pm on the southwest corner of Fifth and Jefferson Streets.  Music from the Debbie Ross Band Saturday at 4:30pm.  Ages 21 and up only.  $10 admission includes wine glass and five sampling tickets.  www.downtownspringfield.org

Springfield Area Highland Games & Celtic Festival: At Chatham Community Park.  Friday: Pub in the Park with Dave Littrell Band 6-10pm.  Saturday: Gates open at 8am.  $5 for adults, $3 for seniors and kids 13-18, children 12 and under free.  www.central-illinois-standrewsociety.com

Donna summer Dead at Age 63

The queen of disco, Donna Summer, passed away Thursday after a battle with cancer.  Summer was a five-time Grammy winner and the first artist to have three consecutive double albums reach number on on the Billboard chart.  She is survived by her husband and three daughters.

"American Idol" Final Two Set
The season 11 winner of "Idol" will either be Jessica Sanchez or Phillip Phillips.  Josh Ledet was eliminated on Thursday's show.  Tuesday night will be the final performance round of the show, and Wednesday night the winner will be crowned.  Judge Steven Tyler predicted Wednesday night that Sanchez will win the whole thing saying, "You'll be the last one standing, I believe."

West Memphis Three
It was announced at the Cannes Film Festival Wednesday that Oscar winners Reese Witherspoon and Colin Firth will star in the upcoming film "Devil's Knot."  It's the story of the West Memphis Three, the three teenagers wrongly convicted of murdering three 8-year-old boys who were finally freed after 18 years behind bars.  Filming begins in June.
