I love makeup! And whether you love makeup or not, chances are you wear it at least sometimes. Don't you want to make sure you're getting the best value for your $$$? That's what this makeup blog is all about.
I try products and give you an honest, unbiased review. From drug stores to department stores, I try different brands at different price points to give you the scoop.
I want your input too! If you'd like to review a product, I have a very simple form you can fill out. Click here, fill it out, and send it to me, and your review might be used in an upcoming blog. I think the more reviews we can get from people with different skin tones, types, and issues the better.
A Little About My Perspective... Everyone is looking for something different in cosmetics. Some are trying to look younger, some are trying to stay on top of the trends, and some are just looking for something quick and easy to get out the door to work in the morning. Here are some of my beliefs when it comes to makeup...
- Quality more than quantity.
- More $$$ does not necessarily mean better.
- Multitasking products are a very good thing.
- Makeup should be fun!
I am so excited! We are getting an Ulta store in Springfield! Whoo hoo! The only thing that would make me more excited is a Sephora, but I'll take an Ulta for sure.
In case you've never been, Ulta is basically a dream come true for makeup junkies like me. They carry a ton of brands all in one store plus hair products and fragrance too. I'm especially excited, because this means we'll have access to a ton of brands we used to have to get in St. Louis or Chicago.
The store will be located in White Oaks Plaza across from White Oaks Mall, and you can bet I'll be there on a regular basis.
First you need to know I hardly use any products on my hair. I wash it and condition it in the shower, but other than that...nothing. I don't even use hair spray.
Well I had my hair colored a couple of weeks ago, and before my stylist started blow drying my hair she put some sort of product in it. I didn't pay any attention until later. I definitely noticed a difference in the way my hair looked and felt. It was shinier, smoother, more manageable, and just looked and felt so healthy. I knew it had to be whatever she put in my hair, so I called the salon and asked what she used.
I was surprised it wasn't a styling product. It was a leave-in conditioner she'd used on my hair called "Sealed Ends" by Bonacure. I'd never heard of Bonacure before, but I'm sure I'll try something else by them.
This stuff is supposed to repair hair damage, seal and prevent split ends. I don't know about that...I just know it makes my hair feel better than it has felt in a very long time.
There's a version made specifically for color treated hair, so I bought that one.
I will go so far as to say this may be the best product I have ever used on my hair. I've never had one product make such a difference in the feel and look of my hair. Even my husband noticed without my saying anything.
I'm not sure where you can get Bonacure products. I only know I bought mine at BJ Grand Salon & Spa.
I've never been a fan of bronzer. I guess I just never found one that didn't end up making my skin look like it had dirt on it, and who wants to look like they need to take a shower? So I just gave up on bronzers all together, until I spied something new from Physicians Formula.
I'm a sucker for packaging, but who cares about packaging if the product doesn't work? Not a problem here! With this product the bronzer and the brush to apply it are all included in one sleek little package.
The bronzer is in pressed powder format in the bottom of the packaging. The brush is retractable and screws on to the powder part of the packaging. The top of the brush has a little strap, and under the bottom of the bronzer disc is a mirrored finish, so you can see what you're doing. The whole thing is ultra portable.
As for the bronzer itself, there are three shades. I chose the lightest shade, fair to light, and it was perfect for me. You just swirl the brush around and apply. I think the brush makes the product apply more evenly and makes it easier to apply to larger areas like the legs.
The product has a fair amount of gold/bronze shimmer in it, but it's not glittery or overpowering. It just imparts a nice glow without being orange or dirty. Best part is, it's available at drug and discount stores for about $13-$15.
