Yesterday, I was in Decatur running the Shoreline Classic 5K. I have done very well in this race, actually winning my age group! This year, it was different. I was there to help a friend and fellow DJ, Michael T from Y103. Now, before you start to wonder, we are owned by the same company, so I'm not, 'running with the enemy'.
This was Mike's first race in a long time, and I agreed to run with him and 'pace' him. We went out at a very relaxed pace, just trying to find a groove. Mike needed to walk a few times, but finished strong!
(I ran the race in my 'monkey feet'.)
In additon to Mike, two ladies from our 'Decatur bureau' ran the race, too! They both had great race times and beat us to the finish line!
This race features a nice post-race feed. Hot Ray's Chili, bananas, sandwiches, Power Ade...a nice spread! Plus, a really nice long sleeve running shirt in the 'goodie bag'.
I refer to our Decatur folks as 'cousins', thus the tie in to the title of this blog post!
(A sweaty group after the 5K.)
It was a fun time, and the rain stopped just before the race started!
