John & Michele in the Morning

After 15 years, we're down to the last week.  July 12, 2013 will be the last show for John & Michele in the Morning.  There's nothing scandalous to report...sorry! 
John will continue his reign as Springfield's morning show king, but he'll just be doing it with someone new.
Michele is moving on to a new phase of her career in the radio business.  She'll still be in Springfield and still with Neuhoff Media, however instead of being on the air she's going to be focusing on all things digital.  It's been a great 15 years, and John & Michele plan to spend this last week reminiscing with guests and playing some of the best moments of the past.

St. Jude Kentucky Derby Party: Saturday at 7pm at Panther Creek Country Club.  Ron Zook is the special guest speaker.  $75 for an individual ticket, $125 for a couples ticket.  Purchase tickets at will be hors d'oeuvres, silent and live auctions, mint juleps and more.  You can purchase a raffle tickets to win a pair of tickets to both the Kentucky Oaks and the 137th Kentucky Derby inside Millionarie's Row.  Raffle tickets are $50, and you can purchase one here

18th Annual Community Unity: Friday 5-8pm at Northfield Inn & Suites Conference Center.  $15 in advance, $20 at the door.  There will be food and drink, silent auction, 50/50 drawing and penny raffle.  Whirled Peas will provide music, and all proceeds benefit Crimestoppers of Sangamon and Menard Counties.  For more information visit or call 788-8324.

Art in the Garden: Saturday 9am - 4pm at Lincoln Memorial Garden.  Artists will be working in the gardens on the trails.  There will also be activities for families and children and a silent auction.  There's an evening reception at 5pm.  Proceeds benefit Lincoln Memorial Garden.  Call 529-1111 or visit

Family Overnight Campout: Saturday night at Henson Robinson Zoo from 6pm Saturday to 9am Sunday.  The theme is "EcoAdventure."  Families should bring a tent, sleeping bags, etc.  Activities include games, animal visitor, campfire, and a night tour.  Dinner and breakfast will be served.  $15 for adults, $10 per child if a Springfield Park District resident.  Call 753-6217 or visit

"The Office" Says Goodbye to Michael Scott
It was a 50-minute farewell to Steve Carell last night on "The Office" as his character left to be with his bride-to-be in Colorado.  Carell has played Michael Scott since 2005.

"Two and a Half Men" May Return
Everyone just assumed "Two and a Half Men" was done after Charlie Sheen was fired, but the "Hollywood Reporter" says Chuck Lorre, co-creator of the show, has come up with a way to reboot the show.  There aren't a lot of details available yet, but word is Jon Cry'ers character would play a significant role along with a yet-to-be-named character.  The show may not make it back in time for the beginning of season 9, but it's believed the show will be back.

Oprah's Having a Party with 20,000 of Her Biggest Fans
Now you know this is going to be one heck of a party!  Oprah is having a farewell party at the United Center May 17th, and you could be there.  It's free to attend, but you have to have a ticket which you can get while they last at  The event will include several big names who will show up to surprise Oprah.  The party will be taped for the Oprah show, so you could end up on TV.

Lindsay Lohan to Teach Acting to the Homeless
We already heard Lindsay Lohan will spend some of her community service working at the L.A. Morgue.  Now we find out she'll also be doing some community servi ce at Los Angeles Downtown Women's Center, a homeless shelter.  Will she be serving food?  No.  Apparently she may be teaching the homeless how to act in a theater workshop.
