Dave Marsh

Hi, I'm Dave Marsh-Program Director and host of "The Ride" home weekday afternoons 3-7p on 104.5 WFMB.

Here's just a little bit about me.  I grew up in a tiny little town in Central Wisconsin.  Got my degree in Broadcast Journalism at UW-River Falls and have been doing radio in some way shape or form since 1977.  I've lived in a variety of locations including Colorado Springs, Lincoln, NE and near Madison, WI.  I love radio as a career and the contact we have with the artists.
Hobbies include:  Fishing, motorcycles (when I can borrow one), outdoor activities, gardening, landscaping and yard work.
Musical choices:  Everything from George Strait to Pink Floyd.  Love most kinds of music.
TV:  24, Fringe, House, SciFi-Star Trek and a steady diet of NatGeo, History, Discovery and Science Channels
Sports:  Packers, Brewers, Bucks--but I have a healthy respect for the Cardinals

I love hearing from our wayward listeners on line at wfmb.com.  Shoot me an email and let me know where you are.

Happy Birthday Taylor

Taylor (Under) Plays 21: Happy birthday wishes are coming from all corners for Taylor Swift, who rang in her 21st Monday (12/13). On the eve of her big day, fiddle player Caitlin Evanson and backup singer Elizabeth Huett brought the pre-party to Taylor's place. "They brought a pizza with a lit '21' candle on it and [birthday] hats," Swift tweeted. The intimate evening with friends seems to be more Taylor's speed, as she claims she's not a bar-hopper. "For me, I've never had this 21 countdown," she says. "I'm not much of a like, 'Yeah, let's go out and get wasted! I'm 21!' ... Now maybe I'll be able to go to concerts at clubs that I couldn't get into before that my friends go to." Entertainment Tonight, MTV.com and OK! magazines are among the celebrity sites toasting her big day. In other Taylor-dedicated news, Sunday's (12/12) Doonesbury was Taylor-themed, and a fan has synched his Christmas lights to "Love Story." No, really. Click here.

» Oh Christmas Free, Oh Christmas Free: Country fans may have a serious disagreement with Brad Paisley over the whole "It is better to give than to receive" concept. Paisley, you see, has decided to give everyone, and we do mean everyone, a copy of his new single "This Is Country Music," which he seems to feel pretty good about. Fans, on the other hand, get brand new music completely free, and who's going to argue with that? "The fact that the fans have allowed me to be able to do this for a living, it’s my gift to them — I guess, right here before Christmas — to be able to say, 'You don't even have to pay me for this. This is for you,'" Paisley explains. The song is the title track of his next album, out April 19. Download it  here through Dec. 20. Did we mention it's free?

» Date At The Courthouse: The HBO Civil War mini-series To Appomattox features a star-studded country cast including Rascal Flatts, Kix Brooks, Dwight Yoakam and Laura Bell Bundy. And no, they won't be portrayed as the all-star military band. "It was a battle in the Civil War, so we're not going to play ourselves," Flatts' Joe Don Rooney explains. "We're not going to be a bass player, guitar player and a singer in the Civil War." According to the show's website, Rascal Flatts will also produce the series' soundtrack featuring original music by the band, Brooks, Bundy, Yoakam and Five For Fighting's John Ondrasik. Filming starts in the spring. Full cast and crew details here.

» In Case You Missed It: As one of the final guests on Larry King Live, Garth Brooks discussed who he would be if he didn't become an artist. "I've been asked this question before, and this is ... a statement of honesty," Brooks says. "I think you would have probably been dealing with me on another level on the dark side to tell the truth ... I want to be a representative of my mom and dad, but I live on the dark side ... That's what you do with music. You get in that dark thing, and you write that dark side." Watch the appearance here. The Judds will also bid farewell to King during Tuesday's (12/14) episode, while the last LKL telecast is Thursday (12/16).
