Michele's Makeup Blog

I love makeup!  And whether you love makeup or not, chances are you wear it at least sometimes.  Don't you want to make sure you're getting the best value for your $$$?  That's what this makeup blog is all about.
I try products and services and give you an honest review.  From drug stores to department stores, I try different brands at different price points to give you the scoop.

A Little About My Perspective...
- Quality is more important than quantity.
- Just because it costs more doesn't mean it's better.
- Multitasking products are a very good thing.
- Have fun...if a look doesn't work a little soap and water makes it all better.

Don't Wear This Moisturizer If You Want Your Husband to Kiss You

A couple of months back I decided I wanted to try a new moisturizer from Avon.  I've never been one to have a moisturizer for day and one for night...too much work.  However, this particular product, Anew Rejuvenate Night Sapphire Emulsion is meant to be used only at night.  There was a special promotion going on when I purchased it, so I received the Anew Rejuvenate Day Revitalizing Cream SPF 25 for free.  Bargain, right?

The Sapphire Emulsion looks different as soon as you unscrew the lid.  Instead of your typical creamy, lotion-like moisturizer it's a gel.  A blue gel with little sparkly flecks in it.  You're supposed to put it on after you cleanse at night, and that's what I did.  I tried to use this product...I really did.  But eventually I had to give up on it, and there are several reasons why.

#1.  The biggest reason I didn't like it is the feeling it gave my skin when I had it on.  It was like it didn't soak into my skin completely, and it left this sticky sort of film on top of my skin.  There's no way you could use this stuff under makeup...it's absolutely a night time product.  In the morning I washed it off with cleanser and a scrub, because that was the only way I felt it was truly gone.

#2.  If your skin is irritated or more sensitive in an area, this product will sting.  I've never had a moisturizer sting before.

#3.  My husband would not kiss me if I was wearing this stuff.  He did once, and since that film was left on my skin he could taste it.  He said it was horrible.

#4.  It's heavily scented, and I'm not a fan of heavily scented skin care products.

Personally I would give this product 1 out of 5 stars, however I must be in the minority.  If you visit the Avon website, the reviews are pretty good.  Read for yourself here.
