After 15 years, we're down to the last week.  July 12, 2013 will be the last show for John & Michele in the Morning.  There's nothing scandalous to report...sorry! 
John will continue his reign as Springfield's morning show king, but he'll just be doing it with someone new.
Michele is moving on to a new phase of her career in the radio business.  She'll still be in Springfield and still with Neuhoff Media, however instead of being on the air she's going to be focusing on all things digital.  It's been a great 15 years, and John & Michele plan to spend this last week reminiscing with guests and playing some of the best moments of the past.

Zeta-Jones Back In Treatment
Oscar winner Catherine Zeta-Jones is back in treatment for bipolar disorder.  TMZ is reporting she checked in Monday for what's being described as "maintenance."  Zeta-Jones spent time in a treatment center in 2011.

Michael Jackson Wrongful Death Trial Underway
When Michael Jackson died suddenly in 2009 he was preparing for a tour, and his family says the concert promoters contributed to his premature death.  A jury will decide if AEG Live is liable for $40-billion in the trial that started Monday in Los Angeles.  Jackson's mother and siblings Randy and Rebbie were in court for the start of the trial.  In opening statements an attorney for AEG Live warned the trial will bring to light "some ugly stuff about the singer's private behavior."

"The Voice" Lines Up Talent for Upcoming Shows
Lady Antebellum will perform on "The Voice" on May 14th, and they're not the only act coming to the show.  Robin Thicke will join them on the episode.  Rod Stewart is scheduled for May 10th along with Cee-Lo Green who will perform one of his new songs. 
 
Tony Nominations Out
The award show is June 9th, but the nominations come first.  "Kinky Boots" was the leading nominee with 13 nods.  Several Hollywood stars picked up nominations including Tom Hanks, Laurie Metcalf, Holland Taylor, and Cicely Tyson.

"Pain & Gain" Wins at Box Office
The new film from The Rock and Mark Wahlberg had enough to end up at number one in its opening weekend at the movies.  "Pain & Gain" made $20-million.  In second it was Tom Cruise's "Oblivion" with $17.4-million, and "42" was third with $10.7-million.

Public and Private Services Set for George Jones
George Jones passed away Friday at the age of 81, and services are set for this week.  There will be a private funeral Wednesday night for the family then a second service Thursday morning at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville which is open to the public.  Jones's family is asking fans to make a donation to the Country Music Hall of Fame instead of sending flowers.

It's a big day for die-hard soap opera fans.  Today is the day "One Life to Live" and "All My Children" return...on the internet.  You can get your fix on Hulu.com or iTunes, and there will be new episodes Monday - Thursday at 4:00am each day.  If you can't keep up with every episode, each Friday will feature a 30 minute recap of the week.

Who Was Booted from "Idol" Last Night?  No one!
After determining that Amber and Candice were the lowest vote-getters this week, Ryan Seacrest broke the news that no one would be going home this week on "American Idol."  Why?  Because the show builds in an extra week for the "judges save" option, and the judges never used it.  The show had to get back on track, so this week no one went home.  However, your votes still count...they'll be rolled over to next week.

Annual White House Correspondents' Association Dinner is Saturday
Conan O'Brien will host, and several Hollywood types are on the guest list including Ashley Judd, Nicole Kidman, cast member from "Modern Family."  If you want to see it live, C-Span will carry it as well as MSNBC.
 
"Idol" Ratings Bested by a Cable Show
Poor "American Idol."  Last week there was the news that the show was beaten in the ratings by reruns of "Big Bang Theory."  This week "Idol" falls to the season finale of "Duck Dynasty" on A&E.  "Idol" wasn't the only show "Duck Dynasty" beat...it was the highest rated show Wednesday night.

NBC to Introduce 24/7 Quiz Show
If you've got 12 days to kill, you might be able to win $10-million!  NBC is introducing "The Million Second Quiz," a 12-day, round the clock trivia contest this fall.  It will air live in primetime and 24 hours a day on other formats, and you'll be able to play along at home.  The contestant that outlasts all the others could win $10-million.

Jon Hamm to Host the 2013 ESPYS
"Mad Men's" Jon Hamm will be at the helm for the 2013 ESPYS July 17th in Los Angeles.  The producers of the show says his "dry wit" and passion for sports will "give fans a unique and original view of the year in sports."  Hamm says his stints hosting "SNL" have prepared him somewhat.

"Guys & Dolls" Remake Coming to the Big Screen
The classic movie music starring Marlon Brando and Frank Sinatra is being remade.  Deadline reports 20th Century Fox has secured the rights to do another film version.  Deadline also reports they want Channing Tatum and Joseph Gordon-Levitt to play the roles Sinatra and Brando played.

3 Doors Down Bassist Enters Rehab
Robert Todd Harrell, bassist for 3 Doors Down, is in a world of trouble.  He was charged with vehicular homicide last weekend after his vehicle struck a pickup truck causing an accident that killed the driver.  Harrell admitted drinking and taking prescription drugs at the time of the accident.  Now the AP is reporting Harrell has entered rehab after getting out of jail on bail this week.  His lawyer, Ed Ryan, says Harrell went voluntarily.

Did Mariah Carey Almost Get Dumped By "Idol"
It's been a rough year in the ratings for "American Idol."  They continue to fall, and last week the show was beaten by reruns of "Big Bang Theory."  Ouch!  Now "The Hollywood Reporter" says those low ratings had "Idol" producers considering a plan to oust Mariah Carey and bring back former judge Jennifer Lopez.  Carey reportedly said she would sue if they did that, so they producers backed off.  A Fox spokesperson says it's "just another ridiculous "Idol" judge rumor."

"People" Picks Most Beautiful Woman
Last week the Star magazine chose her as the most hated celebrity.  This week is looking a lot better for Gwyneth Paltrow.  She's been chosen by "People" as the World's Most Beautiful Woman. 

"The Rock" Emergency Surgery
Dwayne Johnson was a no-show at the premiere of his new film "Pain & Gain" Monday in L.A.  However, he was experiencing some pain.  He was having emergency hernia surgery.  The 40-year-old suffered the injury during a wrestling match against John Cena earlier this month.  Johnson tweeted following the surgery, "Surgery a success.  Superman is on the mend."
 
Vanilla Ice Is Going Amish
Remember Vanilla Ice?  Well now he flips houses and has had a successful show on DIY called "The Vanilla Ice Project" for the past three seasons.  Now, however, he's trying something new.  DIY has announced a new unscripted series that will debut this year called "Vanilla Ice Goes Amish."  According to the network "With no frills, no music, and no power tools, Vanilla Ice lives and learns from the best craftsman in the business - the Amish."  No word yet on a premiere date.

Reese Witherspoon Cancels TV Appearances Following Arrest
After being arrested for disorderly conduct Friday night, actress Reese Witherspoon has canceled a number of TV appearances this week.  According to TheWrap.com Witherspoon has canceled her appearances scheduled for "Good Morning America" and "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" this week.  She was scheduled to promote her new movie, "Mud." 

Khloe Kardashian Out on "X Factor"
Today there is one less place to see a Kardashian, and for that we must rejoice!  Khloe Kardashian will not return as co-host of "X Factor."  Producers announced Monday her co-host, Mario Lopez, will return for another season.  In addition, Simon Cowell and Demi Lovato will return to the show as judges.  No word on replacement judges for Britney Spears and L.A. Reid.

Follow Up to "The Bible" in the Works
After the huge success of Mark Burnett's "The Bible" it's no surprise that a follow-up in in the works.  Burnett revealed Monday at an NBCUniversal event he is working on a follow-up, but it could be more than a year before anything comes to TV.  He said, "I have scripts in my bag that I just received today for what's next.  Clearly we are people of faith, so it's not a show to us.  And to all those people who rolled their eyes at us three years ago and said, 'No one is going to watch the Bible on TV,' we're glad they were wrong, and we feel blessed.  "The Bible" not only did great in the TV ratings, it just became the fastest-selling miniseries of all time.  Burnett said a "whole year's projection for DVD's was sold in 6 days."

Neil Diamond Will Write a Song About the Boston Marathon Bombing
His classic tune, "Sweet Caroline," has become a song of inspiration for Boston, and Saturday night he surprised everyone at Fenway Park by being there to lead the crowd in a sing along of the song.  (It was the first home game for Boston since the bombings.)  Diamond told Rolling Stone he's writing a song after being inspired by the situation in Boston.  No word yet on when we get to hear it.

Reese Witherspoon and Husband Arrested in Georgia
Apparently they both had too much to drink.  Actress Reese Witherspoon and her husband were stopped by police in Atlanta early Friday morning after their vehicle was spotted weaving in and out of lanes.  While her husband, Jim Toth, was being questioned by police she allegedly starting complaining to the officer saying she didn't believe he was a real cop and asking if he knew who she is.  She then exited the vehicle after being told to stay put while her husband was being arrested.  Witherspoon ended up being arrested for disorderly conduct and released a statement apologizing late Sunday: "I clearly had one drink too many and I am deeply embarrassed about the things I said.  It was definitely a scary situation and I was frightened for my husband, but that is no excuse.  I was disrespectful to the officer who was just doing his job.  I have nothing but respect for the police and I'm very sorry for my behavior."

Reese Witherspoon's Hubby Wasn't the Only One Driving Drunk
Sportscaster Al Michaels was picked up on suspicion of DUI Friday night in Santa Monica.  Michaels was just over the legal limit, according to police, and will appear in court June 26th.
The bassist for 3 Doors Down, Todd Harrell, is in jail after allegedly causing a fatal crash Friday night was while driving under the influence.  According to police, Harrell was speeding on I-40 in Nashville when he clipped a pickup truck causing it to go out of control.  The truck when down and embankment and overturned throwing the un-seatbelted driver out of the truck and killing him.  While he was being searched during booking police found a plastic bag in his sock containing Xanax, Oxycodone, and Oxymorphone pills.  He's being held on $100,000 bail.

Tom Cruise "Oblivion" Crushes Competition at the Box Office
It was a good weekend for Tom Cruise.  His new film pulled in $38.2-million to come in first at the box office this weekend.  "42" was second with $18-million, and "The Croods" still sits in third with $9.5-million.

Four Finalists Remain on "Idol"

Going into last night's "American Idol" we knew one thing...a woman would be going home.  Now the final five women are down to four after Janelle Arthur garnered the fewest votes of the week.  There was a surprise appearance by former "Idol" judge Paula Abdul who stopped by to tell contestant Candice Glover what a great job she did covering Abdul's song "Straight Up."

Charlie Brown Coming to the Big Screen
Twentieth Century Fox is bringing the Peanuts gang to movie theaters in 3D in 2015.  The announcement was made in Las Vegas Thursday at the CinemaCon movie convention.

"Weird Science" Being Remade
The 1985 John Hughes film "Weird Science" will be remade.  The producer, Joel Silver, worked on the original with Hughes. 
 
"Dexter" Upcoming Season Will Be Its Last
It hasn't exactly been a secret, but Showtime has now officially announced the upcoming season will be the last.  The eighth season will premiere June 30th, and here's a sneak peek for you.

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Tonight
After years of being overlooked, according to many fans, Rush will finally be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame tonight in Los Angeles.  Heart and Randy Newman are also expected to attend tonight's gala.  The ceremony will air on HBO next month.

Disney to Release a "Star Wars" Movie Every Year
Ever since Disney bought the rights to "Star Wars" there have been all kind of rumors and speculation about upcoming films.  Now Disney has announced they will roll out a new "Star Wars" film every year, starting in 2015.  "Episode 7" is the first and will be directed by JJ Abrams.  After that, the films will be standalone spinoffs...like "X Men" and "The Avengers."

"Breaking Bad" Returns for Last Season in August
We'll finally get to see what happens to Walter White starting August 11th.  AMC announced that's when the last eight episodes of "Breaking Bad" will start airing.  And like "Walking Dead" has "Talking Dead," AMC is introducing "Talking Bad," a live half-hour show about each Sunday night episode.

Seth MacFarlane Speaks Out Against "Family Guy" YouTube Mashup
"Family Guy" creator Seth MacFarlane calls it "abhorrent."  He's talking about a video that appeared on YouTube just one day after the Boston Marathon bombings.  The video mashup took unrelated scenes from an episode of "Family Guy" to make it look as if explosions in the episode took place at the Boston Marathon.  Fox has pulled the episode from Hulu.com and its website, and they're trying to work with YouTube to remove the homemade video.

"Pitch Perfect" Sequel Will Happen
"Pitch Perfect" has already become a cult favorite, and and a sequel has been confirmed.  Universal Pictures says we can expect the film in 2015, and the writer of the first film is on board to write the screenplay.  However, none of the original cast members are confirmed yet.

"Friend" Reunion Will Never Happen
There have been rumors this week that a "Friends" reunion is in the works.  Sorry, but it's not true.  In fact, the co-creator of the show, Marta Kauffman, told EOnline that a reunion will "never ever happen."

New Kid on the Block Okay After Finishing Boston Marathon
Celebrities were all over Twitter sharing their thoughts on the tragedy at the Boston Marathon.  But "Blue Bloods" actor and New Kid on the Block Donnie Wahlberg was using Twitter to try to find out of his bandmate, Joey McIntyre, was okay after running the marathon.  Turns our McIntyre was fine.  He tweeted, "There was an explosion by the finish line about 5 minutes after I finished- I'm ok but I'm sure there are many hurt."

Ozzy Osbourne Admits Addiction, Denies Marriage is Over
Rumors have been flying that Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne are divorcing, and now Ozzy has decided to set the record straight.  He took to Facebook Monday to say they "are not divorcing."  He does, however, admit he's fallen off the wagon and for the last 18-months had been "drinking and taking drugs."  He says he's now been sober 44 days.

Faith Hill's "Sunday Night Football" Theme -- Bye Bye
For six years Faith Hill has kicked off "Sunday Night Football," but that's all over now.  Hill made the announcement via Twitter saying it was a "difficult decision."  No word yet on who will take her place.

Movie of the Year at the MTV Movie Awards Is....
Congratulations to "The Avengers."  It was the big award winner at the MTV Movie Awards taking "Movie of the Year."  And when director Josh Whedon accepted the award, he announced the sequel hits theaters in 2015. 

Why Do People Want to Be Famous Anyway?
For real...you'd have to be nuts to want to be famous.  Saturday morning in New York Hugh Jackman had a used razor hurled at him by an obsessed fan while he was working out at a gym.  According to the "New York Post," the woman was shouting declarations of love before she threw the razor.  The woman was arrested for stalking, and Jackman says he's also seen her at his home and his daughter's school.

Jackie Robinson Movie #1 at the Box Office
It was a good weekend for "42," the film about Jackie Robinson, this weekend.  It debuted at number one with $27-million.  In second it was "Scary Movie 5" followed by "The Croods."

Former President George W. Bush is a Grandpa
Now you can call him grandpa George.  The former president, George W. Bush, became a grandpa Saturday.  His daughter, Jenna Bush Hager, and her husband had their first child.  Margaret Laura "Mila" Hager was born Saturday night in New York City.

A Woman Will Win "American Idol" This Season
It hasn't happened since 2007 when Jordan Sparks won the title of "American Idol" in season six, but it will happen this season.  Thursday night he last guy left in the competition, Lazaro, was eliminated leaving five women as the top five finalists.
 
Kid Rock Blames Republicans and Ticketmaster for High Concert Prices
Kid Rock is touring this summer and has said he wants to keep ticket prices at $20.  However he hasn't been completely successful, and for that he blames Republicans and their laws and Ticketmaster fees.  In a new interview with "Rolling Stone" he said, "That's one of the times I've f--king embarrassed to be a Republican.  It's f--king Republican lawmakers passing those laws, you dumbasses."  About Ticketmaster he said, "They're taking a f--king five-dollar service charage."

MTV Movie Awards are Sunday
I just might have to tune in to the MTV Movie Awards this weekend.  Why?  Because Rebel Wilson is hosting, and he's HYSTERICAL!  You may have seen her in "Bridesmaids" or "Pitch Perfect."  Here's a little clip of her from "Bridesmaids."

More Returning "Idols" Tonight
Last Week Carrie Underwood and Casey James returned to the stage that gave the their start.  This week two more "Idols" return to the show.  Kelly Clarkson, the show's first season winner, will sing a new single on the show and season ten winner Scotty McCreery will also perform.
Meanwhile many are saying Lazaro Arbos may have turned in the worst performance in "American Idol" history on Wednesday night's show.  Decide for yourself...
 
China Shuts Down "Django Unchained"
The same day Quentin Tarantino's "Django Unchained" opened in Chinese theaters...it closed.  The film was pulled with the explanation being a technical problem.  However, some are speculating the film didn't pass muster with Chinese censors, according to EW.com.

Alec Baldwin Late Night Talk Show Host?
"The New York Times" is reporting actor Alec Baldwin may be in the running for a late night gig.  Most likely it would be "Last Call" taking over for Carson Daly. 

Housewife Gets Booted from DWTS

Death of Margaret Thatcher Popularizes "Wizard of Oz" Tune
With the news Monday of the death of former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher came an interesting result in music sales.  According to "The Official Charts Company" the song "Ding-Dong the Witch is Dead" from "The Wizard of Oz" saw a massive spike in sales.  The versions of the song are currently in the top 200.  A Facebook campaign to make the song number one probably had a hand in the sales.

Beloved Mouseketeer Dies
She's probably the most well known original Mickey Mouse Club member.  Annette Funicello has died at age 70.  Her family told "Extra" she died of complications of multiple sclerosis.



ACM Awards Win Sunday Night
No surprise here.  It was a very good night for the Academy of Country Music Awards.  The event drew the biggest audience since 1998 and was up 39% from last year's event.  The good news doesn't end there...social media mentions were up 285% over last year, and 1.1-million votes were cast for Entertainer of the Year.  CBS easily won the night.

A&E Renews "Bates Motel" for Second Season
Ratings continue to be very good for "Bates Motel" on A&E.  The premiere of the show was a record-breaker for the network, so they've confirmed a second season. The show is a prequel of sorts to the classic Hitchcock film "Psycho."

Stephen Colbert Sets Up a Twitter Account for Bill Clinton
Just like I set up John's Twitter account, Stephen Colbert set up a twitter account for former president Bill Clinton on his show last night.  Several names were already taken, so they ended up going with @PrezBillyJeff and Clinton dictated his first tweet to Colbert - "Just spent amazing time with Colbert!Is he sane? He is cool! #cgi

Roger Ebert's Funeral Today in Chicago
This morning in Chicago at Holy Name Cathedral people will have a chance to say goodbye to film critic Roger Ebert.  The funeral is open to the public though space is limited.  Ebert died last Thursday at the age of 70.

Evil Wins at the Weekend Box Office
It was evil coming out on top at the movies this weekend.  "Evil Dead" was first with $26-million.  In second it was a tie between "The Croods" and "G.I. Joe: Retaliation" opened in third with $21.1-million.

Halle Berry Expecting Another Baby
She's 46, but that's not stopping her.  She's expecting her second child...her first with her current beau Olivier Martinez. 

"Star Trek" Phaser Sells for Over $200,000 at Auction
It was a one-of-a-kind phaser rifle used by William Shatner on "Star Trek" and it went for $231,000 at an auction.  Surprisingly it's not the most expensive item to sell from the 1960's show.  Back in 2008 someone paid $304,750 for the captain's chair from the show.  In 2006 a special effects model of the Enterprise from "Star Trek: The Next Generation" sold for $576,000.

Film Critic Roger Ebert Dead at 70
He was the co-creator of the "thumbs up" movie ratings and probably the best known movie critic in the world.  Roger Ebert died Thursday just days after announcing his cancer had returned.  Ebert was the first film critic to win a Pulitzer Prize.  The annual Ebertfest Film Festival, scheduled for April 17-21 in Champaign, Illinois, will go on as planned.
 
First Trailer for Remake of "Carrie" Is Out
The Stephen King classic,"Carrie," is being remade and will hit theaters October 18th.  Can it hold up to the original?  Well the new version stars Chloe Moretz as Carrie and Julianne Moore as her crazy mother.  Check it out...

It's Official...Fallon Will Host "The Tonight Show"
NBC finally confirmed their worst kept secret...Jimmy Fallon will take over for Jay Leno as host of the "Tonight Show" starting next year after the winter Olympics.  And the show will be moved to New York.  Several celebs tweeted their congrats including soon-to-be-rival Jimmy Kimmel who wrote "congratulations to by dear, sweet @jimmyfallon - a formidable rival and an incredible lover." 

After 20 Years the Dinosaurs are Back...in 3D
"Jurassic Park" is one of my all time favorite movies.  Now it's back in theaters Friday...in 3D!  It's the first Steven Spielberg film to be converted to 3D, and the process took about nine months after Spielberg finished shooting "Lincoln" in 2011. 

"Hannibal" Premieres on NBC Tonight
"Silence of the Lambs" scared the $#@%# out of me, but if you enjoyed it you might want to check out "Hannibal."  It's a new show on NBC that serves as a prequel to the original film.  Catch it at 9pm tonight.  Here's a clip...

Source Says Jimmy Fallon Will Host "The Tonight Show"
The Hollywood Reporter says Jimmy Fallon has closed a deal to become the next host of "The Tonight Show."  According to a well-placed source it will happen though a timeline isn't yet clear. 

"Game of Thrones" Renewed
After a record-breaking season opener, it's no surprise that HBO will bring back "Game of Thrones" for a fourth season. 

"Finding Nemo 2" Gets a Title
We told you a while back that Disney/Pixar is working on a sequel to the uber successful "Finding Nemo."  Now they've announced the title of the film: "Finding Dory."  The film will be released November 25, 2015, and Marlin, Nemo, and the Tank Gang will return for all the fun.  The new movie is said to take place one year after the first one.

Another Accuser for Ex-Elmo Puppeteer
The legal problems continue for Kevin Clash, the former puppeteer of Elmo on "Sesame Street."  He now being accused of sex abuse by a fifth man.  The latest accusation comes from a 25-year-old man who says he was 16 at the time of the alleged incident.

Justin Bieber Pranks TMZ on April Fool's Day
TMZ's phones were jammed on Monday when Justin Bieber decided to pull a prank on them for April Fool's Day.  Early Monday he tweeted that he would be "taking all fan phone calls" along with a toll-free number.  Turns out the phone number was actually the TMZ tip line...and Bieber has 36-million followers.  It will probably cost TMZ a pretty penny...they have to pay for every call they receive at that number.

"Conan" Staying Through 2015
While the late night drama continues on NBC between Jay Leno and Jimmy Fallon it's smooth sailing for Conan O'Brien.  TBS has renewed "Conan" through November of 2015.

"G.I. Joe" Tops at the Box Office
It was an easy number one for "G.I. Joe: Retaliation" this weekend.  The sequel pulled in $41.2-million.  "The Croods" was second with $26.5-million, and "Tyler Perry's Temptation was third with $22.3-million.

"Glee" Star Checks Into Rehab
The actor who plays Finn on "Glee," Cory Monteith, has checked into rehab.  According to his publicist he "voluntarily admitted himself to a treatment facility for substance addiction."  Monteith has had drug issues in the past.  He told "Parade" magazine he had a serious drug problem entered rehab when he was 19.

"True Blood" Gets a Premiere Date for Season 6
The countdown is on to season 6 of "True Blood."  The season will kick off June 16th, and the season will have 10 episodes.  Here's a tease for it...
 


Illinois Grandma Gets a Warning for Too Many "American Idol" Votes
When I think of the typical "American Idol" fan I don't usually think of a 72-year-old grandma, but I'd be wrong.  Recently an Illinois grandma got a warning letter from her phone company for overuse due to her voting.  She allegedly casts several hundred votes in just an hour's time and says she's got the redial thing "down to a science."  The letter warned her phone service would be terminated, but the company has since said the letter was sent in error.
